Leading global insurance and reinsurance company, Allied World Assurance Company has generously donated £15,000 to support the stem cell project being undertaken by Professor Geoff Raisman and his team at University College London into spinal cord repair using olfactory stem cells. The UKSCF is working with Professor Raisman and his team to help raise funding to progress this exciting research to the next stage, which is a clinical trial. The project brings hope to many people, not only in the UK but across the world, whose lives have been affected by spinal cord injury or damage. The contribution by Allied World Assurance will help to raise the £1.5 million needed to ensure the work on this exciting project continues beyond January 2012.

As a company, Allied World Assurance’s charity committee chooses a selection of charitable projects to support across the world each year.  Corporate Communications Manager, Noelle Campbell said: “Our company is dedicated to the development of communities through civic involvement, volunteerism and the funding of vital programmes. Charitable giving plays an essential role in building stronger relationships with the people we serve. Allied World supports the communities around the world where we do business and in which our employees live and work. We believe that this support returns long-lasting benefits to society, our employees, and our company.”
